A thought came to me yesterday, one of those thoughts that is coming together out of consciousness, making its way to the surface.
It was about protection and what it has to do with love, or rather, what love has to do with protection.
The thought was: Love implies protection.
I've seen people one would assume love their children leave them unprotected emotionally and physically.
And people who've pledged to love their spouses, who beat them up, physically and/or emotionally.
I'm thinking that's a good test for love, if you wonder about it. Do they protect you? No, not doing what you should do for yourself, but, do they "have your back."
Do they consider what their actions might cost you before they do them? Does it make a difference to them?
If they don't, or it doesn't make a difference, then I'm thinking you need to find love where it's real. At least, don't depend on it being the love you want when it's not.
